Coronation Street legend wants to join rival soap EastEnders after quitting

A CORONATION Street legend has admitted that she is keen to join rival soap EastEnders after quitting the cobbles for good.

Beverley Callard is most well-known for her stint on ITV soap Coronation Street as brassy barmaid Liz McDonald.

Glam Bev Callard is eyeing up an EastEnders role

The star was last seen parading around Weatherfield in June 2020 and has not step foot back in Manchester ever since.

Whilst Beverley has remained busy off-screen including with a stint in I’m A Celebrity, the actress is now keen to get her hands on a big acting role with the BBC soap firmly in her sights.

Beverley, 67, recently wowed as she revealed her brand new acting headshots in a bid to find more work.

The actress let her curly hair flow as she showed off her youthful complexion in the stunning photos.

She played Liz McDonald in Weatherfield for years

Captioning the pics, Beverley said: “New headshots first time in years! Thank you @yellowbellyfoto for making it so easy.”

One fan quickly noted her resemblance to iconic EastEnders character Angie Watts which prompted them to quip that Bev could take on a role connected to her in the soap.

They said to the soap siren: “These are to submit to the BBC so they can introduce you in EastEnders as Angie Watts long lost sister, right?”

Confirming that she would absolutely take on the role, Bev replied to the fan: “Yes!! I’d do it.”

The possible Albert Square appearance would actually not be the first time that Bev strutted into Walford.

She played her Corrie character Liz McDonald in a special crossover episode for Children in Need back in 2010.

Written as entirely fictional stand-alone episode, Liz was revealed to be Kat Slater’s mother in a shock twist.

Ten years later, Liz re-appeared in a second charity special episode, this time for Comic Relief.

The cast of EastEnders held a lockdown pub quiz online and Liz mistakenly joined the Zoom link when trying to host the Rovers own online quiz.
